Annual Student and Trainee Ophthalmology Conference 2013

The Annual Student and Trainee Ophthalmology Conference (ASTOC) is a national ophthalmology conference aimed at medical students and foundation year doctors. The conference programme includes lectures, practical workshops, poster presentations as well as talks from ophthamic trainees and world reknowned surgeons. The event has been running successfully for four years under its previous name the Undergraduate Ophthalmology Conference (UOC).

 

ASTOC Poster Presentation Prize 2013
ATSOC faculty welcome abstracts submission for the poster prize presentation to one of the following categories: case presentations and reviews, audits or original research.  Those chosen will be invited to prepare a poster to present at the ASTOC 2013 and compete for the prizes.  The 250 word abstract should be submitted using format:

1. Presentation Category

2. Title

3. Authors (Presenter should be listed as primary authour)

4. Affiliations (E.g. University of Edinburgh or Moorfields Eye Hospital)

5. Body of abstract

i. Audits and orginal research abstracts should follow the format:

    • Background
    • Aims and objectives
    • Methods
    • Results
    • Conclusion

ii. Abstracts for case reports should contain:

    • Background
    • Case report
    • Conclusion

iii.  Abstracts for reviews should depeict a summary of the article


Submission deadline is the 31st October 2013. Candidates to be notified of short listing within 14 days after the deadline has passed. Please note that it is not necessary to have had clinical exposure to ophthalmology to enter this competition. However, the work must not be older than one year and no published work will be accepted.  All accepted abstracts will be published in the society journal - BUJO.
